Chinatown is like home to many of us. It is a place where we gather, learn about, preserve and pass on Chinese culture and customs. We have always been proud to have the oldest Chinatown and Chinese community in Europe. The launch event hoped that all sectors of society, partners and governments will have a better understanding of the Action Group and know how to contact us, share and communicate with us. The Action Group will work closely with the council to improve the appearance and economy of Chinatown so that Chinatown can develop better.
Cllr Nick Small delivered a speech thanking the Action Group for the invitation, saying that the city of Liverpool is lucky to have the oldest Chinese community in Europe. The council cares about helping generations of Chinese who have taken root in Liverpool, and will also warmly welcome those newly arrived. The council attaches great importance to and supports the prosperity and development of Chinatown, and looks forward to working with the Action Group to promote economic development and creative investment opportunities in Chinatown and Liverpool.
